German and French Extension Courses

The School of Languages at LJMU has been selected by the Training and Development Agency for Students (TDA) to deliver the course based on its experience and expertise in delivering short intensive language courses in preparation for initial teacher training (ITT).

German Extension Course

The intensive course designed to support graduates with a language other than German to achieve sufficient competence in German to enable them to teach accurately and confidently at secondary level to at least key stage 3.

The course is designed to prepare you to commence a secondary Modern Foreign Language (MFL) training course from September 2008 whether on a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) course or on a Graduate Teaching Programme (GTP).

The course runs from Friday 23rd May until Friday 22nd August 2008 (13 weeks in total).

For two of these weeks, the course is based in Berlin where you will attend a (compulsory) tailor-made German language and culture course at the Goëthe Institute to complement your German language and culture studies at LJMU.

French Extension Course

A short intensive course designed to support graduates with a language other than French to achieve sufficient competence in French to enable them to teach accurately and confidently at secondary level to at least key stage 3.

The course is designed to prepare you to commence a secondary Modern Foreign Language (MFL) training course from September 2008 whether on a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) course or on a Graduate Teaching Programme (GTP).

The course runs from Friday 23rd May until Friday 22nd August 2008 (13 weeks in total).

For two of these weeks, the course is based in Paris where you will attend a (compulsory) tailor made French language and culture course at the Alliance Française to complement your French language and culture studies at LJMU.
