November 25th 2011 ICT Skills Test It was announced last week that the ICT test will no
longer be a requirement for the award of QTS from April 2012, subject to
parliamentary approval . The critical thing to note is that the proposal is still subject to parliamentary approval. To be on the safe side the Consortium recommends that trainees continue to take the tests as, even if it is confirmed that they are not a requirement, they will provide valuable evidence for ICT capability for the QTS Standards. Please note the removal of this requirement will apply only to ICT. Maths and Literacy tests will still need to be successfully completed before QTS can be awarded even if parliamentary approval is given for the removal of the ICT from the requirements.
